September 11, 2001

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me show love;
where there is injury, pardon:
where there is doubt, faith ;
where there is despair, hope
where there is darkness, light
where there is sadness, joy
O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

  1. That is worth praying everyday for we are truly blessed when we give selflessly to bless others. Thanks for the lovely reminder.

  3. That is quite a tall order for us ordinary human beings. Very appropriate your showing it us at this juncture.
    On a less lofty note: your garden never fails to surprise me: so many different nooks and crannies. On second thoughts: this may be elsewhere?

  4. Wonderful prayer. My neighbor has a statue of St. Francis that needs to be in my yard. It's a rent house and it's just laying in some weeds behind the garage. I'm inspired to ask for it.

  5. David, Melanie (and family) - Welcome. I am glad you appreciated this prayer - it has meant a lot to me over the years.

    I'd say ask away - somebody ought to be appreciating that statue!
